...the large air intake above the radiator for apart from receiving the air that comes through the grill? there is no filter in there or else it would be changed every so often, does it have anything to do with Air -Fuel ratio or can it be removed with out being detrimental to the running of the car?
 
Hi Sy,

The air intake above the radiator should have a pipe comeing from it on the right hand side as you look at the engine, this connects to the front of the standard air filter box under the filter
Air obviously passes throught the filter and into the engine passing the air flow sensor on the way.
Do you have no link between the front collector and the filter box?

the car had a service beginning of the week, not really floored it till today but started to growl when the revs got high so had a nosey and the pipe is missing, they musn't have put it back when they changed the filter, will driving it like this do any damage to the car?

Nope, just you won't get full power, espesh when its hot outside.

Cheers Rab & Tom i'll go get that pipe back tomorrow, like the sound of the growl though think when im back of hol a induction kit will go in there, am i right in thinking you are making these tom??? 1.6 16v SX
