Long gone- bye bye all!
I just came across this site offering folding fabric sunroofs. Wouldn't it look fab on the 500! Wasn't the original 500 available with a fabric folding roof? Anybody any idea how much these cost? How would it affect the warranty? I assume they strengthen the roof when they fit it? The dimensions of the roof are 782mm by 1080mm. Would that fit on a 500?

I think i'd rather have a Sport with one of these than a lounge with glass roof. Why doesn't Fiat offer these as an option? Sorry the pic is on a mini lol...

Bristol sunroof centre website says fully fitted including vat and 3 year guarantee "from" £793. Not as expensive as I thought.

Yes its webasto as per the original link. Fiats line with the warranty seems to be you can have one fitted without invalidating the warranty, but we won't cover any faults that occur as a result of having it fitted.

I don't like it...plus I was driving through Liverpool in February it was about 23:00 I'd just rolled in from Edinburgh, and first thing I saw was some hoodie jumping up and down on the roof of a parked car, making a big dent in it. The alarm was going and all his mates were standing around laughing. Now if that had been a fabric roof...

I hate the big lump of plastic at the leading edge, whats that for... older sunroofs never had that bit. I suppose its electric, thats a shame as a manual one is so much better. The ones on the Cinq Soleil were electric and always jammed up.

Well I assume you would say the same about the 500 Cabriolet then? Maybe an issue in dodgy parts of Liverpool but not down here where I live and i've got a garage anyway.

The bit at the front is a wind deflector to stop all your tissues and general clutter being blown all round the car and out through the roof!:p

....he'd have fallen through & broken his bloody nech with a little luck(y)

We've got the electric folding fabric roof on our Seicento Sporting. It's a 2001 model and was a dealer fit option. We've never had any trouble with it in the 2 years we've had it. The only drawback is there's quite a bit of wind noise on the motorway, and that's with it closed, and you have to keep your finger pressed on the button to open it all the way. It's great in the summer though.

(There's pics of it in our folder on this forum. We'll also be posting pics of our 500, as managed to take some photos today)
