i have punto mk2 which had headlights with no fogs i got 2 with foglights in scrapyard & wired them direct into high beams with no relay my car has no foglight switch in dash when i dim the lights my low beams goes out & the fogs are on is this right or wrong any help welcome on wiring correctly thanks

Hi mate,

As oldhammer says, they shouldn't really be wired in the way you have done.

However, the fault your experiencing (dipped beams going out when full beams are activated) is a known common fault with dirty contacts in the stalk switch. I would do as oldhammer suggests first, as if this problem has started straight after you fitted the fog lights, however if the problem persists, or was there before the fog lights were installed, then it needs to be remedied by other means.

Hello.
You might be best wiring in a seperate switch and also using a in line fuse and switched relay..
They wouid become more fit for purpose then..
i have put in headlights with fogs in my punto mk2 how do i wire them from high beams to relay which wire goes to terminals 85/86/87/& 30 of relay & from relay to aftermarket dash switch with bulb

have you tried fitting a fog switch from another punto? often the wires are all there all you need is the lamps you have and the switch.

high beams should never be used in fog so dont wire fog lights to them
thanks dave no there is no fog switch or wires them behind panel would be very thankful if u could tell me how to wire them regards pat
