Another thing, does anyone else experience bad windscreen condensation in cold weather. The car heater/ac seems to take ages to warm up and the inside screen ends up very wet. I wonder if I have a warranty issue on the heater; anyone anything similar?

this pops up quite often. Keep the air flow directed at the foot well initially, otherwise moisture on the AC unit from last time it ran will end up on your window.

I have noticed that on both my 500's the windscreen seams to get a 'dirty' fog on the inside very quickly when new, the windscreen needing a clean every couple of days or so.

However, as the miles have been put on the cars the problem becomes less of a problem, to the point now where it's the same as any other car & does not get dirty quickly.

I'm wondering if it's something that Fiat use in the manufacturing process that 'de-gasses' (such as the solvents in the plastics), or parhaps something on the heater matrix that eventually burns off.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thinks the heater takes too long to heat up. My last two cars, an MR2 & and an Alfa 156 were starting to warm up within a minute or two of leaving home. I have tried all sorts of things to speed up the demist thing as well with no joy. I even wondered at one stage if the cabin air intake was wired up back to front!

I intend to mention it when my first service is due... along with the reluctant starting first thing in the morning... and the sluggishness in 3rd gear (I feel it's definately missing some ooomph!), however, at 1200 miles after 4 months, it'll be another 8 months before I need to go anywhere near a dealer.

apparently theres a software update to tackle the starting problem and it also seems to make the car a bit nippier too from what affected people have said (havent had any prob starting mine no matter how cold its been, luckily)

I'm waiting for the first service in september to address the cold starting issue as can't be bothered to go into the dealer.

I found last night that the aircon on whilst the heat was turned up cleared the screen quicker (and I still get nice big circles on my passenger and driver windows where something must have been stuck on in manufacturing!)

Mine demists within about 5 minutes of the engine being on, it's not instant or anything but it's decent enough. I tried starting my car earlier though and it seemed to struggle a bit. It also let the revs drop a massive amount the other day after start up, almost stalled the engine because of it. (n)

No problems starting, and it idles smoothly (even with the aircon on - my last car used to drop revs with the aircon on, this one doesn't).

No problems clearing the screen either. It mists easily, but clears easily too. I always close the vents to demist the screen. On some cars I've had before they take some of the air force away (even if the setting is just on screen). Not sure if that's the case in the Fiat, but it's just a habit I'm in...

Mine doesnt seem to be massively wet when I go out to it in the morning, and it clears ok. always have air to screen only, all other vents closed, top speed, air con on til it clears. Last couple of frosty mornings also started it before I cleared frost off screen, puttered along nicely and almost cleared inside when i got back in from clearing the ice off. Once Im off and running i switch it to screen/feet and leav it on 2, keeps everything clear. Oh and does anyone elses speed dial not quite line up with the numbers? mine seems to point to 1, 2 and a bit, 3 and a bit, 4.

Had this at the beginning, actually smoke for first few miles but actually took a couple of months to fully resolve. All is fine now.
