General Fog light bulbs

H1 mate.

I just changed mine they are same as high beams... dipped are h7.

I got a pair of lovley 130% brighter ones for my h1 fogs and h7 dipped, didnt bother doing high beam as barley use them. Just need to fix my fuse for fogs now (see my other thread)

Some tips in my thread too that should help us with big engines and limited space... if your lucky you can even do the drivers without loosening the washer bottle so you dont even touch a tool... just use your hands and brains :)

Thanks..

Yes, I remember that the dipped beam is H7. I never swore so much in my whole life, changing the driver's side (right) one.. :D I tried to do it from above but once I got the bulb in, the spring clip fell out.. and after more swearing, I eventually could not get the back cover back on until I removed the inner wheel arch liner and did it from behind.... :D

Then a few days later, the passenger side went.... :D but that was easier - "just" a battery out job. Luckily/touch wood they've been fine since.

Sooner or later I want to swap the headlamps, since mine are grimy inside the lens cover... but I suspect this is going to be a bumper-off job (i.e. for the summer).

Meanwhile.. I'll get some H1's in yellow and give the foggies a boost. :)

Cool...

Seen a lot of bmw owners with orange fogs lol... and some golfs... to be honest it looks like they have swapped the indicators for fogs or just banged orange leds in the sidelights... some look cool, some dont...

I think i may go yellow / orange on the stilo (might look cool) but then i dont want to be tarred with the same brush (bmw / audi / golf owner type of thing) i already have led side lights that are useless from a drivers use inside the car but do look very lovley from outside and when passing other cars, already had one muppet ask me if i fitted HIDs... when you can clearly see 4 bright led bulbs and yellowy white dipped on! (Some people lol).

Yep! I suffered the same fate with my 1.2

Ended up jacking up front end, removed wheel and arch liner just to put a cover on the back of the light..

Second time round i moved washer bottle (cant really do that on my 1.9, different bottle and mounting point)

On the 1.9 like mine i found it easier (after ripping my hands apart) to remove the metal clip that holds the cover on... then once on, put the clip back in place... i also had the issue with the retaining springy clip that holds the h7 in place (what a **** that is) i almost nearly resorted to calling it a day until weather warmed up then it would of been a bumper off light out job! Luckily i managed to sort it and gained a cold and cuts all over my hands lol, even my 13yr old son struggled lol!
