Punto (Mk2/2b) Flashing dashboard lights

Hi guys,
I haven’t been on here for a while as I’ve managed to keep my Punto Active 8 valve 54 plate on the road for the last 4 years, and blimey it passed its MOT in November.
Now I have a problem - last week I tried to start and the battery was dead. I got a jump start and had a new battery installed professionally and all seemed well. However, when I took the key out the dash lights flashed madly, and were
worse when i opened the drivers side door - the relay was chattering in the cabin fuse box then reduced when I shut it, but the dash lights continued to flash on and off.
This was obviously what drained the battery in the first place, but was wondering what the problem is?

Just an addendum here - once the car starts all exterior lights and systems work perfectly.

keys in pocket
disconnect the battery earth terminal
say 4 heil marys
reconnect battery terminal
try injun running and turn off
hopefully that will cure it if its not been spiked by the jump start
