For those who may be interested this is how I fixed my rear lock...It was seized for the last 3 months...local mechanic said that it was seized and had to be replaced...local Fiat dealership wanted €200 for the job...
1.Open up rear hatch.
2.Remove four retaining screws that hold the plastic cover in place
3.Remove the cover taking care not to break the studs that keep it in place
4.Now you should be able to see the barrell of the lock itself.
5.Get some good quality car grease and cover your car key and key slot liberally with it.
6.As you look at the barrell from inside the rear hatch you should see a little square block(at the 12 o clock position)which I think keeps the return spring in place
7.Now insert the key into the lock,before turning the lock push this little square block to the 1 o clock position.You should now bw able to turn you key freely within the barrell
8.Keep doing this until you think it feels really smooth.
9.I also covered the outside of the barrell in lots of grease as water from the rear spray can sometimes leak on it when it pops off the nozzle..its happened to me.
