Hi
I am quite a competant DIYer and have successfully carried out many repairs on vehicles in the past of all levels of difficulty.

I was simply wondering if anyone could tell me if replacing the rear leaf spring is as simple as it looks? i.e. remove the retaining bolts, remove old spring and refit new. Or, is it a job in itself to get the tension into the spring to set it in place to re-do the retaining bolts back up?

Or would you recommend I just sent it to a garage (they reckon its gonna be £90 labour)?

Thanks

not that hard really you just have to get it high enough remember the new spring will have a bigger curve in it so the body will have to be higher for it to fit in its easier to jack the axle up to it than to jack the up also its adviseable to change them in pairs as you may end up with a leaning van dont buy new look in yellow pages for spring repairers the last ones i did about 2 years ago were £70 per spring it is a good idea to spray liberally with wd 40 for a couple of days to free every thing off and put copperslip on spring pins on rebuild prevents squeaks later
