General Fitting new radio to 04 Multipla

Hi folks,
A simple question for a sunday afternoon:
I hope everyone had a good christmas, we went away for a few days and the new (to us) multipla performed well. It clonks at the front which I'm assuming is the drop links after reading up on here and the other immediate problem is no tunes!
It's been a while since I fitted a car radio, is the multipla multiplexed and will this make a difference? I'm thinking of getting a fitting kit from ebay which includes the fascia panel and the iso connector, I asume this is all I will need?

The radio wiring is fitted with iso connectors, so no need to buy an iso kit unless your replacement radio doesn't come with them.

Thats right about the ISO connectors, but if you have steering wheel audio controls you will probably need and adapter box to the other Fiat socket for the wheel to work.
I did all this when I fitted a MP3/CD player with external USB lead to my multi recently. Much better than the standard Blaupunkt original...

Did you do the steering wheel control adapter? I've just bought the correct Autoleads one (PC99-X29) and I'm a bit puzzled by it. It has a big ISO harness for speakers and radio, and seems to mess around with the power wiring converting it from switched to permanently on (which I don't really want).

The interface doesn't seem to work right either, but I've not been able to follow the programming instructions because of the power issue (there is no easy way of power-cycling the radio as instructed).

I can't see why the interface needs this. The flying lead which actually powers it comes from the yellow (permanent live) wire, so I was thinking that to get rid of the mess of wiring I would remove it and tap it directly into the permanent feed going into the radio.

I'd be grateful for any experiences you might have had with this.
