I just had a bit of fun walking around the garden trying to get to grips with the macro options, bear in mind I was freezing my arse off so my hands were shaking, I should have put a coat on

The Ant would not stand still and combined with my shivers it was hard to get a good shot but it came out alright, mainly the foreground is what I like about that one.

These others are just part of a shrub but considering they were swaying in the wind the camera done a fantastic job.

The last ones one of the reasons I bought a good camera, to take pics of models I have made and painted.

I love the shrubs, the colours/sharpness have come out awesomely on them.
What DSLR do you have?

looks like you've been having fun :D

macro is something i've still not tried out. for photographing models and stuff like that, have you considered constructed a lightbox/tent?

Hi Magical Trevor, thanks very much, the camera's an Olympus E510, the lens used for the Macro shots was the Zuiko 35mm.

arc, I have a small setup for the model stuff, not a proper tent or light box but I have a few defused lights around the camera area, not quite bright enough to be honest so I may have to think that one over a little more.

I'm currently looking for a dedicated macro lens for my camera, had some fun using manual mode to adjust the depth perception, which gives a better macro effect, but I still want to try it with a specific macro lens rather than a standard 18-55 lens. I want a decent wide angle.
Got anymore photos?

Thanks peeps, I appreciate the comments.

Got anymore photos?

Not really no, I spent today clearing out the workshop so I didn't get chance to take any more pics. I'll most likely grab some tomorrow though and we are going out Sunday purposely so I can try the camera's different lens options, I have a 14-42mm and a 40-150mm at the moment. The picture of the Tank above was using the 14-42 lens, the model is only 5 or 6 inches long so it captured it pretty well for a first time try. Oh yeah, hang about, I did a picture using the 40-150mm. I was sitting about 12 feet away from this artificial flower, in fairly low light using the full manual mode so I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the image when I cropped the area of focus. Not a wonderful picture by any stretch but the cameras ability really shows considering I just held it up, zoomed in and clicked.

What camera do you have MT ? do you have any pics to share ?

The quality on that is pretty awesome considering the distance, and I wouldn't have guessed it was an artificial one lol
I have a canon 400D, its a good camera, but I'm now wishing I held out a bit longer and saved up a bit more, but it will do me for the time being.
I have a few photos here www.carleysmithphotography.co.uk
But its kind of empty, I haven't uploaded in a while, but your welcome to have a browse

Excellent pics on your web site MT, all of them are good, the railroad one and the cat on the guitar really stand out for me, oh yeah that butterfly is real cool too.

I'm pleased I waited till now to get the camera I really needed. My mum offered to get me one last year out of her catalogue but in the end I couldn't let her pay over the odds for it so I declined her kind offer.

I didn't really have a clue which one to buy as the DSLR scene is new to me, I just needed it to be good for the money and it's certainly met that criteria, the image stabilisation is a god send for me.

Aw thank you very much Koa :) The guitar one is one of my favourites as well, I'll add a colour version to this post as well.
I really should upload more photos to the site, just been lazy lately I guess.

Looking forward to seeing more of your photos

The cats called Hendrix by the way.

Haha, Hendrix, that's brilliant MT, thanks for the pic. I must get a cat again some day, they are so easy to live with and the kids need a pet.
We think someone stole our last one as he was part Persian, I'd rather think that than consider the alternatives anyway.

Mark.
