I have been today the victim of mugging in Tower hamlets.

At about 9h30 to 10h00 I was sitting outside at the lime house link tunnel waiting for someone to meet me. While being there I was working with my re-mapping equipment, which is not insured. All of a sudden a guy approached me and snatched the equipment. He ran into the main road (A13) where a red Renault Clio just stopped and turned the hazards on to wait for him to jump into the car.

The guy who snatched the equipment was of Asian back ground, fair skin, brown hair (1" length), under 6 foot tall, stocky but not fat.
The dirver I did not see. But the car was a red Renault Clio Mk1 with a J registration (someone thinks it was J 663 VRU but I don't want to discriminate an innocent person)

From what I understand from an armed response unit that happened to come along from the opposite direction about 30secs later who saw the car passing it is believed that these guys are local. They tried to chase them (boy they were fast turning around and going after them) but by the time we got to explain what had happened the muggers had well over a minute gone.

If anyone has seen this car could you please kindly relate the information to the police or get in touch that I can tell the police to contact you?

The chances are good to get somewhere as there is CCTV evidence too.

 Bugger. Least there its 'only' property missing - you often hear of muggins where the muggers bop someone on the 'ead etc to make sure they don't give chase.

He looked at me and thought to himself: "This old git doesn't outrun me."
The sad thing was that the gut was even right on this.

as long as you are ok, the gear can be replaced. this type of crime is on a big increase. in and around salford and manchester uni, you here often of laptops being stolen. in some cases, the victim is bludgeoned(n)
a lot of theft in london is being done by baltic state immigrants. some look asian, but obviously are not. (n)

Sorry, but you've been beaten to it! Sammi and I were beaten up for no reason in Bridlington last year. Culprits caught, charged and tried (y)
£50 compensation each too. Bargain price!

Thanks for the support guys. This is really great.

One thing I want to point out in this incident. The two police officers who were send to find me because the armed response unit tried to go for the muggers were really helpful. They asked me where I had to go (I cancelled my appointment because I had to wait to sort the paperwork) and gave me a lift from Tower Hamlets to Barking.

On the way they played with their computer and could not match several combinations, which led them to the conclusion that they use a fake number plate.

Trying to see the funny side is when they should get caught, I would like to have a video camera on me with the string of offences they committed, which is then all on camera. On the other hand they might be such muppets that they wouldn't be able to to count the days of spending in prison.

I sought legal advice on this situation and in case they get them I will challenge the judge if the sentence is too lenient. I found with the help of some clever guys a way to enforce the duty charge people reasonably.

Hey, don't make my misfortune your fortune. There is other ways to get a cheap re-map.

can be glad nothing happend to you, did the oke pitch up you were waiting for, or did it have nothing to do with the equipment?

The guy is a long standing business associate, he is alright. In hindsight I must say it was in a way stupid of me to take out the equipment. Reading a newspaper would have been cheaper.

Not sure if you've ever been attacked before but it really isn't pleasant - sure u heal but scars are more difficult to get rid of, as is nerve damage which can take months and months to repair itself. I'd have far rather not been attacked phisically and just got thing taken!
