Technical Fire 1108. What?

I've read somewhere that the FIRE engines also included pushrod motors. Is FIRE a manufacturing process or is it a specific engine design. And what are the similarities with a punto 1.2 litre and a 1.1 FIRE.

A seem to recall a debate about this in the classic Panda section a couple of years ago or so. I think there might have been some kind of pushrod FIRE engine very early on in some markets but my memory is failing me here.

stick a rag on the (cold) tailpipe you should feel pressure build behind it, if not, the gasses are escaping through a hole.
