Engine size? Age of car?

Re: Re: fink the radiators fukd

I have a similar prob.

Standing in traffic the temp gauge shoots up far too quickly for my liking. No knocking noises as such. I manage to keeop the temp down by turning the heating up.

Its a 1999 1.2 Tom. Any ideas? I thought it may be the thermostat but can I find it? Nope. It aint where the Haynes manual says

Daft question Wimmy but does the fan cut in? Sounds almost like your fan ain't running OR your rad is half full of air.

First check would be to 1) make sure the fan turns on and 2) feel the rad to make sure its hot all over.

If it was stat I'd expect either running too cold or running too hot all the time.

Fan never seems to start up. (I aint to clever on mechanics side). How do I sort it or where should I look 1st to solve?

Haynes manual. :)

Check fuse and the temp switch. One of those could be furked.
