Fibreglassing help !

This may seem a bit of a daft question but I've never done fibreglassing before so I know nothing !
When people have done installs and door build etc and used cloth stretched across to give the smooth curve, do you then glass on top of this using the matting and resin or just brush the resin straight on to the cloth and let that harden ?
Any help would be appreciated.

id sort of do both... stretch the cloth over teh area and get it to the shape u want... then cover it in resin... id add a layer of matting at this point and then leave to dry...

once thats done id just whack it all on lol

if its a boot build for subs etc need to built it to about 10mm thick and if ur making a sub box i reccomend putting think wire mesh int he middle to give it some regidity (sp)

try and make a mould out of papier mache, put the ipod in a sandwhich bag and start from there
