Last saterday i ordered the Stilo 2.4 20v. I was wondering what kind of software the navigation will use. Is it the same as VDO-dayton ?

Fiat Punto SatNav

I have a standard fit satnav system on my Punto HGT. It's part of the Blaupunkt stereo. I suspect your Stilo may use the same one. The system is 'tuned' for Fiat ie. it displays the Fiat logo when it is turned on and a lot of the more useful SatNav features are blacked out. Basically if you are looking for a street in a big city it will help you but otherwise it is shite. The software cd is supplied to Fiat by one of Blaupunkt's subsideries and when I tried to get my free update they didn't reply.

The problem with SatNav is that you always find yourself anticipating the next instruction it will give you. By the time you are told which direction to take you will almost certainly have seen a sign and know where you are going anyway. Also it frequently tells you to eg. 'take the next left' when you are stuck in the right lane of a city centre ringroad. What made me give up on it though is after driving somewhere with my wife as passenger using SatNav - 3 navigators and loads of arguments - and we still got lost in Leicester!!

I probably haven't answered your question but my advice is stick to a map.

Cheers

Thnx

Thanks for the reply. That is too bad that your system does not work as it should. I hope i won't encouter these problems.

I think it's the same but i have tested the navigation during a testdrive with the Abarth and it worked great. Maybe they improved the system. I will see what happens when i get my car.

Regards
