Seicento Fiat Seicento - Car wont start!!

I ran low on petrol and parked on a hill, when i went to start it it didnt ignite, so my sister and i pushed it to level ground where we still had no luck! my dad bought a can of petrol which we put in the car, still no start trid to push start it, no luck, towed it home and tried to jump it, still nothing. checked the spark plugs, all are working fine. had the AA out he said it was the fuel pump but you can hear it working when you turn it on so power is getting to it, i had the pump out to see if there was any gunk in the mesh but it was completely clean, what else can i do as my cash flow is next to nil at the moment... Any ideas much appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum.

As above firstly - if the CODE light hasn't gone out then it's an immobiliser problem. If it does, then you need 3 things for ignition - fuel, air and spark. Air is easy, spark you say you've checked so that leaves fuel again. Take the airbox off and have someone watch the throttle body (assuming this is an SPI car) while you try to start, they should see fuel being squirted onto the butterfly.

What year/engine have you got?

also i have filled a petrol can put it in my fiat, and it still wont start, put another can in, and it fire's up, but firstly the key code.

Just went out and took the cover off and had my dad watch for fuel, there's none coming through but you can her it clicking, he sprayed some electra lube in the plug above the butterfly to get a better connection but still nothing.

I take it the CODE light on the dash does go out? What year and which engine?

I only have one Key, i'm left with all the normal lights on my dash.

899? Does the yellow code light come on briefly when you turn the key? I know you say you're left with the correct lights.

If not check the maxi fuses behind the battery.

Whate does the code light look like? As dad said my car isn't that up to date to have a chip in the key.

Just had a look and know what the code ligth is now, lol it comes on for a second then goes, then i can hear fuel pump.

If the code light is not on (says "CODE"), spark is OK, but no fuel past the injector, either the pump is taking a long, long time to prime the system (I've known this happen, but don't know a reason) or the injector isn't firing, or the injectpr is blocked (very unlikely).

I'd pull off the top of the air filter again, dribble a small amount of petrol -- no more than a couple of teaspoons -- down the throttle body and try to start it.

Done the petrol thing, engine works fine, checked the fuses the J/B1 60A fuse is blown, could that be it?

got the fuse - done nothing. checked manual and its only for the dashboard lights. i think i found the fuel cit off switch but am not sure if i need to push it really hard as i pushed it and still nothing...

It's too dark to do much now, but next step is probably to visually inspect the wiring to the injector.

I had an 899 and it went non start one day. I also had a maxi fuse blown behind battery and replacing it cured mine. Never found out the reason for it blowing.

ps, you have got a chip in your key if you have a seicento

It's worth trying my "fuel into the intake" bit a little longer -- idea is that the fuel pump will eventually start to push petrol througgh. But if no go, I'd look at fitting a new fuel filter. On the earlier Seis, they're under the car, held on by those fancy depress the pins and pull fixings.

The thought behind this is that running the car dry has blocked the fuel filter with carp.
