hi all sedici car owners . i am new to this site but have been looking for some answers to questions i have about th Sedici i bought 3 months ago .
1. Mileage :-what should i be getting on a petrol 1.6 MPg . Do very ittle motor way driving . For 20 litres about 5.7 Gallon i get about 125 miles !?

2. tyres -: i have Bridgestone Turanza but front are down to 3mm so i need to buy . I am thinking that the fuel thing is becasue of the tyres but i dont want to compromise safety so if that the case i will stick to them . I see the Michelin energy plus energy saver has a rating of B for fuel and A for grip. whilw the bridgestone has E and B

thanks anyone please ! before i buy the tyres:confused:

20 litres is actually 4.40 gallons not 5.7, so 125 miles is 28.4 m.p.g.. Still far to high, my diesel 1.9 does over 50 m.p.g.

I presume your calculations are not on U S A figures.

Hi welcome to the forum .

with my 07 plate 1.6 i am getting 37/38mpg around town and short trips
and around 42/43mpg on motorway trips at 60mph.

I get around 47mpg for normal town and motorway driving. Over 50mpg if I'm trying. I've got the 1.9 diesel.

As for tyres I've just replaced my fronts with Nangkang Eco-2 205 60 r16 96v for 139 fitted. They seem to be fine. Rated well on the new tyre charts but not had a chance to test yet.

I really need to get myself a diesel

I have recently had budget winter tyres fitted, and still getting 50 + m.p.g. This return is not due to coasting down hill with the engine off; just by using traditional economy methods such as follows.
a) Try and keep the rev counter below 2,200 r.p.m. in all gears. This means keeping to a speed in 6th. gear of 72 m.p.h., and in the lower gears avoid rally car acceleration.

b) Have the correct tyre pressures all round, based on the car carrying a full load.

c) Do not speed up to a junction / traffic lights or other hazzard, anticipate your approach and eliminate braking.

d) Turn off engine at red lights at road works, if the volume of traffic ahead gives you ample time to restart.

e) Make sure engine is serviced regularly, and that the idling r.p.m. is comfortably low, around 600.

I consistently adopt these tactics, although I am never first over the finishing line, I am usually in the top three, and still have enough fuel in reserve to race past the odd Granny or two who if going any slower would be reversing.

The guy who claims 47 m.p.g. as a norm, and 50 plus if he tries in his 1.9 is probably doing the same as me; because the Sedici, like any car, in the hands of a 'Boy Racer' would easily return on the 1.9 lower 30 m.p.g. figures if pushed.

Thanks everyone for your comments i have registered on Fuelly.com Thanks . Read all the info on driving to save fuel . One thing that i need to get is the tyre pressures checked and get a service. The car seems to have quite high revs to others i have owned yet on slight hill start feel i need to rev to avoid cut out so from reading feel that is not good. Thanks all again Oh calculated the litres to gallon on some online calculator wont be truusting that again! And im no boy racer ( being A girl ) more like the old girl going backwards mentioned :):) glad of your help Ta (y)

37mpg in winter & 40mpg in summer with my 1.6 petrol; obviously much less than the diesel but:
diesel is more expensive
1.6 is chaincam so no cambelt changes (£350+)
No DPF to clog up (£500+)
possibly cheaper insurance
cheaper to buy
so overall running costs much the same; less for petrol if annual mileage is low
