Hello

I have had about 50 things wrong about my fiat and its costing me a fortune, but today I had a red light flash. It looks like a car boot thats open (but its not) instead its like a rectangle with a curve on top and a red line pointing toward 2oclock. what does this mean?

There are only about 6 red lights on the dash

1 is a steering wheel for the electric power steering,
2 Is a circle with an exclamation mark in the middle which is for the brakes
3 is in the shape of a door to indicate a door is not shut properly
4 Is a rectangle with a + and - symbol which is for the battery
5 is in the shape of an oil can to warn of low oil pressure (I think this could be your light)
6 is an airbag warning light which has a person shape and a circle.

If it is the oil pressure warning light don't drive it and check the oil level,

Hi Andy,

I swear it is not any of those! I dont think anyway. It is a shape of a rectangle with a curve on the top and a line sticking out. I am aware of all the other lights, but this light I cannot find online, this is VERY Strange. The ABS or EML - can anyone post pictures of this though it does not sound like them?

The oil can light is an oil can with with a slight drip right? thats on the right hand side. this light is on the left hand side right near the handbrake warning light light. Totally baffling. :bang:

Thanks Andy, Its an auto 51 plate 1.4l.
None of the lights are what it is, so i presume it is Airbag? Though it certainly aint a person shape and a circle, how very strange?? Can amber lights be red too?

Ok Found it, its is on page 10 and 11 on the fiat punto handbook and says:
warning light fitted on Speedgear or

Dualogic versions

If you look in the handbook its dialgue next to the icon or the furthest icon on the dashboard to your right (though my rev counter is on my left i guess the manual handbook is mirrored?

Thanks

Can you not take a photo of the dash and post it on here?
If the sun is on the dials, you can usually see the outline of the symbols even if they aren't illuminated

Edit - looks like we were posting at the same time.

Hi Juggers,

I can take a pic - but its in the handbook on page 11. Funnily the handbook explains every icon except this one. It only says: warning light fitted on Speedgear or
Dualogic versions

Warning light FOR WHAT? I am taking it to the garage today to find out what it means, but I swear its one thing ater the other with my Punto. Oil, Gear, Steering wheel, immobiliser - Most things in the space of of 10 months! I think I am going to sell it and buy a corsa lol:slayer:

Ok , what specifically though? It was driving absolutely fine though?

Could it be the earth fault you here about with these?

Hi

What is the earth fault? I was researching the forums and looked to me that it was quite common. It could according to feedback be;

1.) Damp (With the recent rain I am hoping it is this, and did hear swooshing in the engine last week but I just chose to ignore it :D)
2.) Gearbox switch is needed.

I am hoping it is not the latter.

On one type of auto there was a fault with the earth, I think it was located in one of the rear light clusters.

As Andy said the type of autobox you have means different potential faults.

It's a speedgear.

Went to garage today, he was baffled at what it could be so bringing it bak tomorrow morning !

Hi

So i went to the garage and could not find anything wrong with it. He said to ignore the light because the gearbox was absolutely fine. He did say that P0705 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) popped up on his machine tests but when running the diagnostics there was no malfunction...

Ok, So latest…

Me and my brother this morning cleaned out the cluster and noticed that when I put it in reverse, the light goes. Then suddenly a massive bang occurs when we changed the gear (from D to R for example…) We put the lights back on after cleaning the cluster and the light disappeared! (y)

However I just drove home, and it appeared again…:D

It did this again and again!!!
So long! I think I may just ignore it? It doesnt seem like a Gearbox issue but a wiring one!!
