Technical Fiat punto mk2 head gasket URGENT

hi i have a punto 188a4000 (1242 8v) my head gasket is gone and i found a gasket that is the same looking one but it's from an older engine (dunno which one). The replacement will be done by me mechanic friend of mine. He's never done gasket on 8v before so he doesn't know. Some co workers of him told him this gasket we found can be placed on the mk2 8v. So i m asking you, can this be done? Can the mk2 take gasket from other model ? If yes from what models?

edit1: the gasket is from fiat doblo
edit2 the doblo gasket has stripes around it, while ours is smooth . But from the inside it's 100% the same. Both are 188A4000

Aslong as it’s for a 1.1/1.2 8v fire engine the gasket will fit

i saw some posts that said the the gasket need some modification to fit, is this true? or will it fit 100% like it is.

Not that I’m aware I’ve built a few 8v with various other head/block combos and never ran into any issues

If uve got a 2006 onwards grande punto
Im led to believe the engine is slightly different

The mk1 and mk2 / 2b 1.2 8v are same i believe
I think thr heads are all samr they just changed the bore stroke to give greater cc's

According to ePer the head gaskets from the late MK2b have different part numbers to the early MK2bs. If you still have the old gasket then put the new one under it and compare them!

Part numbers can be a minefield.
Getting the right one is not always a guarantee. Having different numbers does not necessarily mean that the parts are different.
I bought aftermarket from the local factor and had no issue.
