Hi, im looking at buying some 17" multi stud alloys for my 2010 fiat punto grande will these fit? 215/40/17

That's -- for all but the 17" part -- a tyre size.

First, you need to know the PCD. In the Grade Punto's case (almost uniquely amoungst FIATs) it's 100 x 4.

Then you need to know the centre bore (if the centre hole in the wheel is larger, it can be made up with spigot rings. If smaller, it's a job for someone with a damn big lathe).

Then the ET -- offset -- (which should be as close to the original as possible). If the ET is bigger than required, you can make it up with spacers (the higher the ET, the closer the wheel sits toward the centre of the car). If smaller, the wheels will stick out more -- there's no way of correcting this.

Finally the J size (wheel rim width) of the wheel should be within the range specified by the tyre manufacturers.

To my humble mind, 215s on something like a GP are far too wide (they'd suit a 2 litre performance car, which the GP certainly isn't).
