Punto (Mk2/2b) Fiat punto 8v active won't start please help.

Hi there,

I'll start from the beginning......I ran out of petrol on a short journey and filled the car with some £20 worth it started after a jump but was cutting out all the way home...I got it to a safe place and left it run for a bit and thought things were ok......then....the wouldn't start at all...I took the battery home and charged it.....still no luck...I had it towed to a mates garage and he tried to run the diagnostics to see if what was wrong and when he run the diog all the power cut out and a message came up saying "no communication".....no I am left with a paperweight. If anyone has had a similar problem what did they do? any help you can give me I would be very grateful. Model: fiat punto 8v active 2006, 1242 CC, petrol.

As 2006 is a change over year

Upon running out of fuel - you now get a no start situation
What do you get when you turn the key?
Does it crank? does the dash go spazzy? Does the key code light go out?
Do you hear the car prime up (fuel pump switches on for about 4-5seconds)

we need a little more info,
checking the key-code / immobiliser light goes out is a great start..,
