Lighter flywheel makes the revs rise & fall quicker but does nothing to the power. If the gearbox synchro is slow a light flywheel can be a real problem. They are best used with racing boxes that dont have synchro.

Great to use on a track - Preload the gearlever, momentarily dip the throttle and the next cog slips in. Not so handy in traffic - all crunches and clunks.

i have a mk1 punto sporting 1.2 16v, found good mods are:

induction kit located near front left of bumper like a gsr.
decat pipe with a good stainless steel exhaust system
splitfire ignition leads
bosch super 4's
lower it 60mm with some good shocks in there also
and convert the back to disc with the gt axle

one of the best things for power is some good maintanance and service.
first thing i did when i purchased was: oil, filter, water and antifreeze, and fuel filter.

id hope my sporting would be 90bhp or more. it is alot more responsive than when i first got it, but its only a 1.2 so big power isnt gonna happen with small mods.

as mine is now it drives superb.

mod it like mine and drive it like you stole it!:slayer:(y)

or get the 1.4 16v, can be easy tuned to have same power as a worn out hgt, but with out the weight ;)

:yeahthat: but then again i'm biassed . Mine if I can be bothered to put a stainless manifold on and a new remap should be ok for 130bhp.

Mine just has GSR Induction, Red-Dot Remap, catback exhaust and Colombo & Bariani fast road cams.

Trouble is the inner demons to buy a new car are setting in again. Doesn't help when my savings account is amounting to enough for a decent BMW 330D/330I Msport / 2005/6 Alfa 156 2.4Jtd Ti. Rather tempting.

sell me the cams ;) maybe.

agreed white sei that a decat is polluting, but my car only comes out on sundays mainly as i work 6days and have a work van. so my one day without a cat makes up for everyone elses 5days with a cat :p

besides im just feeding the trees(y)

yh agreed white sei, i think shes abit more responsive with the decat, its just a pain in the ass changing it all the while, i change it if im going on a long run anywhere as i dont want to be a big polluter, and obviously for the mot, be so much easier if i had a car lift in my back yard  not sure the neighbours would apreciate this

but il give the sporting its credit, its a brilliant machine to drive, best in its class, superior to the saxo vtr and the corsa sri/sports in my opinion

wouldn´t it be better and cheaper to take the head from a 1368cc 16V in sted off useing money to port the 1242 one?
