My car is running cold according to the temp gauge. It can't be the coolant because that is on the max and the thermostat has just been changed a few months ago.

When the car is not driving/idle it goes to normal temperature it's just when I'm driving.

Could it be the sensor?

start the car

put your hand on the Hose top right

should stay cold ? if the thermostat is shutting properly.

More information needed.

do the heaters blow hot.

does the water level change when you take the cap off

dose it never reach temperature. What's happening at the gauge, Are the fans kicking in, any dash lights. Is it slower to warm up

and so on.

The more information we have the better the advise we can give

Yea the hose is hot and Yes the heaters blow hot as far as I can tell. Also the water level stays the same once cap is off.

The temperature fluctuates while driving going from 1/4 to halfway between 1/4 and half. When I'm sitting g idle the temp rises to hot at normal temp in about 30 seconds.

if the top right Hose is warming up as soon as you start the car the thermostat isn't doing its job.

temperature goes down to 1/4 while the car moving and air is passing through the radiator. And rises while stationery

which is what you are reporting

Everything is pointing towards the thermostat not shutting off the coolant to the radiator properly

Just an update I'm getting a friend to fit it tomorrow morning. I hope this one lasts longer than the previous one which lasted approx 3 months and solves the problem.

I know you will laugh - but I've ordered the same one again. I'm just hoping it lasts for a lengthy time, albeit it's the same one...

take a close look at the one that comes out. Could just be bad luck

its easy to push the bridge part down and twist. it then all comes apart

be interested if its tight against the rubber seal. The seal isnt damaged and there isn't part of the old one stuck in there or corrosion

there's also a one-way bleed valve. This might be worth checking if its stuck open

I have to admit I fit the cheapest I can get . Usually between £5-£10 including gasket

I been doing that for years. 3 just in Pandas. Never had one fail on me yet.

but I have DOA and fail on fit with other parts. Its all part of the game:)

I fitted an "Original Birth" branded one from S4p to our 1.2 Dynamic Eco just a few weeks ago. It's working just as expected. Anyone that hasn't bought from S4p before may be put off by that name - I know I was at first - However I've now had a number of parts from S4p with this brand name - including a new metal coolant pipe which was of excellent quality - and I would have no hesitation buying again.
