Fiat Marea Automatic Gear Problems

I have a 3 year old Marea with 80000 km on the clock.
The "automatic gear "warning light has been flashing.
I went into the garage.They found that the fan cooling the hydraulic
fluid had not been working.Fixed that ,changed the fluid and also
changed the computer .

The car has been fine for a few weeeks , but once again the "gear
light is flashing'.
The garage say they have to overhaul the gear.-A lot of money.( the
warranty finished a few weeks ago.)

Has anyone had a similar experience.
How can I check they are not taking me for a ride.

Auto Specialist

You need to go to an auto specialist. The dealers have very little experience of automatics. If your in the UK you can look at www.honestjohn.co.uk for general comments on auto gearboxes.
The box is made by Aisan Warner and very similar to most Vauxhall autos (Astra & Vectra). In these cars it is much more common and therefore there is a lot of experience.
