Hi There people,

Just wanted to say hello - I have bought a Marea 130JTD. Really like the car, it goes well with good economy. Have owned an Alfa 156 in the past so know quite a bit about these engines. It's a copper colour, done 145K but historied and been chipped so goes like stink!

Couple of questions for you -

1. Does anyone know what other seats will fit into a Marea, preferably something sporty? The drivers seat has worn and is quite uncomfortable. Will Fiat Coupe seats go in?

2. Anyone know where I can get front discs and pads cheap as it will need some soon?

Look forward to chatting with you guys on here and I will try and get some pics up for you to see.

Many Thanks,
Lee

Does anyone else have a JTD130?
I know they are as rare as rocking horse doo-doo!

Anyone help with my questions?

All replies greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lee

coupe seats can fit, but will need custom subframes i believe :)

They certainly are very rare breeds. In a very nice colour aswell. Good find. But wow, its got starship miles. Be prepared to start replacing many of the common wear and tear parts on it.

Been looking on AUTOTRADER...

1999 V Fiat Marea JTD 130 £2495 with low mileage and with 1 year cover.

Hi people, thanks for the warm welcome.

I do like the colour real copper tone to it and the mileage is mostly motorway. It's has the cambelt and clutch done already which is great. As for condition, I would say generally good - it needs a damn good valet though it's a bit of a shock coming from a 1996 Audi A6 with 230,000 miles and as solid as a rock. The Fiat feels a little "flimsy" shall we say. Never the less, I bought this car to run into the ground! It's a Marea saloon and it accelarates like a petrol. I am extremely impressed with the MPG so far, 250 miles from a 1/4 of a tank, that was mostly motorway though.

What parts were you referring to as the most common wear out parts? If you mean the brakes, yep they need doing I think. I seem to have a low resonating noise at speed, though that could possibly be a wheel bearing.

The link to the other Marea - I actually drove that example as it's near where I live. It's in lovely condition with full history and only 62,000 miles, nice colour as well. It will need a cambelt though and still overpriced methinks. They didn't seem to be up for shaving much off the price, even taking into consideration the cambelt needed doing. So I left it and found mine!

I know they are rare but I didn't realise how rare. I bought mine for £1500, I thought that was quite good considering it's had a cambelt and clutch already. I know the mileage is high, but it's been chipped as well, that was something that I was going to do but don't need to. To me, it was a bargain.

Lastly, does anyone know if Fiat Coupe alloys fit? I need to replace the tyres soon, and not impressed with the Fox alloys currently on there.

Thanks for the replies, hope to see some of you soon when I can get to one of your meets.

Yeah things like that, suspensions components, i.e shock absorbers, brake lines, brakes, waterpump, tensioners, pulleys, CV joints, bushes, bearings Etc.

Not necessarily need changing but with that mileage things would be wearing out. But the engine would be still solid after all its a diesel.

I doubt its been chipped though unless you mean either a remap or a tuning box.

Im with you Joske, that's the sort of items I thougt you were talking about. Changing the suspension would make one hell of a difference to this car. I mean it handles OK now but uprating the shocks and springs would be great.

The car has been remapped, estimated bhp is around the 170 mark. I would love to get a BMC CDA for it, would sound beautiful with that off-beat 5 cylinder diesel...

I would well look forward to someone taking me for a drive in a remap'd Marea 2.4 JTD. Wonder what its like. Is the Marea 2.4JTD a 5 cylinder? My brother drives a 03 Alfa 156 2.4JTD 150BHP as standard 5 cylinder and that shifts.

Was considering a Fiat Marea Weekend 2.4 JTD many moons ago. It was a Copper Orange Metallic, about 80K on the clock, alloys, leather seats etc. But i just couldn't part with my new at the time Bravo JTD with alot less miles on it.

Well, if you want a test drive I will be happy to take you out in it. You will be hooked it is rapid! With a lovely 5 cylinder warble to it, it sounds very undiesel-like.

Let me know if you do...
