Just wondering if anybody can help, i am a bit green on the Fiat side of things, sorry !
I have a R reg Seicento sporting and i was wondering if they require a Red master key on this age of vehicle, i have been reading horror stories of hundreds of pounds to sort this issue out if a problem occurs if you don't have the red key as i bought this car privatley i only received one Blue key.
Any help would be appreciated :)

Will i need the red key if i change the battery on the car as all power will be disconnected.
And if the worst case happened would you recommend sourcing a ecu and full set of keys from a scrappy ?

I have never needed my red key so far in the whole time i have owned various fiats no matter what has been done to them

if the worst happens and at the moment that is you loose your key you need to get an ECU, Code box and Keys and locks, doors boot and petrol cap

Or read the bit on McKrich perfomance chips

I gather the engine in my R reg seicento and other electrical bits are the same as the cinquecento sporting.
Do you know if there is a problem with changing the battery, or is it just a simple case of changing it and off i go again ????

yours is slightly different claire. Yours doesnt need a red key as its the later model with the code 2 system however you should have another blue key though

Yeah going to try and get a new blank blue one if poss, there is a guy on ebay selling blue fiat blanks for a tenner, do you think its worth buying or is it a bit dodgy ??.
Wher would you suggest getting a new one from ?? :yum:

does keys matter  i have a 2001 seicento and when i bought the car i got one blue key with the car and that was all is this right.
Probably a CODE2 on this year car, and yes keys do matter.
If you lose it, then you will have to wait 5 days for Fiat to get a spare, but not the end of the world.

You can get 2 types of key supplied from e-bay etc, but neither will work.
One type with an unprogrammed chip, and another with a programmed chip.
With the programmed chip one you would need the master key to load it into car.
Much simpler to take your own key down to high st key cutters and get it cloned, then it will work straight off no problems.
As regards battery removal, this will not affect the immobiliser operation.

It only matters if you never lose the key... then you will be quoted £600+ from Fiat to get it going again.
Just get the key cloned at your local High St key shop (£25) and always keep a spare at home.
