Hi all,

I have recently purchased a Motorhome branded Fiat + Weisenberg from 1990. The signature name of this series is Imperiale as you can read on the pics. I really love it as it is the first vehicule I own and it provides me the freedom I need after years of restrictions.

Unfortunately, after a recent trip to the beach, the gearbox started being faulty and due to the old age of the camping-car, most garage have a hard time fixing it because they don’t know where to find the spare parts.

I hope to learn how to service my Imperiale through this Forum. Do you know where to find the spares? Please share your experience if you have ever worked on a similar vehicule.

kinds regards,

Yannick

Hi Yannick :)

That looks to be in very good condition

To find gearbox parts.. you need to know what you have..

What engine?

My 1988/90 had a 2500diesel NOTturbo motor and a 5 speed gearbox

The MOTORE description on the vehicles Motor compartment should help in this identification

Thank you varesecrazy. It only has driven 65.000km, so I believe it shall be on the road for another couple of years.

Okay, I know mine is also a 5 gearbox diesel (potentially 4+1 added later on/apparently with Turbo).

Does the following pictures allow to fully identify the motor ?

Oh, Big thanks for the research varesecrazy!

What info helped in identifying the engine ?

So if I understand you well, my engine is likely to be compatible with these 4 types of gearboxes: M 4, M 5, M 6 and M 7 (right?)

Ps: I should point out that I have a manual transmission.

Ps2: By the way, is it possible (recommended) to transition from a manual to an automatic ?

You are welcome :)

These vehicles are OLD.. I seem to recall the Citroen..and Peugeot (J5?) Were all assembled together

Your location could make a 'French' vehicle simpler to find parts

The ePER link is the original FIAT parts system ... so the various motors and gearboxes all feature
.

Of course FIAT dont keep these parts 30 years later...

But.. a specialist Engineer.. ideally for Gearbox.. may be capable of repairing your own gearbox
