Hello,

I have quite a few questions about the fiat "code" and ECU modification on my old Doblo 3C from 2005

1) Is the fiat code used in order tu use central locking on the car ?
2) Is the code needed to enroll a remote key ? (for the unlocking part only, not the starting)
3) I know for sure that at least my ECU was replaced, if by any way I can set my hands on the original code for my car (based on VIN) can I rewrite the one actually in my ECU ? (I don't know the actual ECU one and there is no way I can found it) (BTW, my ECU is for a 16v motor and I have a 8v motor in case it change anything)

4) If I change my ECU for a new one, can I randomly generate a fiat code ? (according to this pagethe code is a 5 digits who doesn't include "0" [sorry it's in french and not for my car but the "code" technology should be the same]
This page is the equivalent for my car but the dashboard shown is an older model from before 2000

5) I have some issues with my engine like suden loss of power and my engine don't run as smoothly as it should while not at temperature (EGR, intake and exaust have been cleaned). I compare my doblo (motor code 223B1000) with an older one that my dad own (motor code 223A9000). Mine seems to run on 3 out of 4 cylinders sometimes while idling which is really weird to listen to (I have a recording, I will post it here if I found it). I have perform the "Reset self-learning fonctions" procedure from MES and it seems to run smoother but it was yesterday and I need more time to confirm that it helped.
Anyway, question is : is the "BOSCH EDC16C39 CF4" (1.9L JTD 16V) compatible with my 1.9L JTD 8V motor ? (I should have a "BOSCH EDC15C7 CF3" acording to MES)

I already have try to contact Fiat to retrieve those informations but the car is too old and they cannot grant me any information. I will go to my local dealership but they don't seems to know what a fiat code is and what is the procedure to retrieve it from Fiat

Thanks in advance for your help

Hello,

Normally the FIAT CODE is related to the immobilizer. It should in no way affect the central locking. And it's the BCM (body module) that manages the immobilizer, not the ECU. If the immobilizer (managed by the BCM) would not recognize the key, it would not allow you start the engine. It would display the FIAT CODE error (or just a light, depending on the model).

The programming of the keyfob (central locking) and immobilizer are separate in MES for the 2005 Doblo 1.9:

However the information in the yellow part of the MES window says that during the procedure the FIAT CODE is required for both parts (Key = immobilizer and Remote control = central locking).

I assume that the source of your problems could be the incompatibility of the new ECU module and the engine. It might also be that someone earlier messed up with the new ECU.
