This looks interesting so im going. Im taking my very fuel efficient 4.0L Ford Falcon! Bahaha

The Fiat Club has issued an invitation to AROCA members to take part in their 2009 Economy Run.

The event is open to all brands of motor vehicles that use ULP, LPG, Diesel, E10 or any other legally/commercially available fuel. Hybrid vehicles also welcome. Duel-fuel vehicles will be expected to start and finish with all fuel tanks filled and to run the event on only one choice of fuel.

The event will cover less than 200 km, will be on sealed roads throughout and will finish by lunchtime. No toll roads involved.

The Peugeot Club has already taken up the challenge. We can't let them (or the Fiats) do better than Alfas. Great opportunity for AROCA members to show the fuel efficiency of all models within the club and for our Dealers to take part and demonstrate how fuel efficient Alfas the latest models are.

Date: Sunday June 14.

Start 9am. Subway, Brandon Park, Cnr Springvale & Ferntree Gully Roads Mt Waverley. Recent copy of Melways and a navigator required.

Finish: Shell SS Pakenham and then to lunch at La Porchetta Pakenham (optional).

Results will be measured in litres per hundred kilometres travelled and costs per hundred kilometres travelled.

Come along and enjoy the drive!!

You poor poor thing, what did you do in a previous life to deserve being a member of AROCA? :p

That sounds like fun, would be even better if you had the 'Foon or similar.
I'm just wondering at what point you will go "sod it" and just try to get to the finish with the highest fuel consumption??

Na, I'm a member of the FCCV. I think a few do go for the highest consumption!

I cant see anything being less efficient than my beast though. Even driven nice and sedate it wont get more than about 13l/100km around town. The only vehicle I've had worse than that was a 92 Mitsubishi L300 4WD 2.4L.

So the official result was....... 11.2l/100km over the 141km course for the Falcon (in economy mode!) :slayer: I've never driven so slow in my life and this thing still gets shocking economy so I'm not going to bother from now on.

Most Punto's and 500's were around the 4-6l/100km range and one even managed as low as 3l/100k. The most economical vehicle was a 200cc scooter with 2.6l/100k
