I have a 2001 Fiat Brava which lately has been causing me a few probs in the mornings. When I start it up it sounds like the battery is dead, the clock and the mileage counter go back to 0 and then it starts up fine. It only happens in the mornings (seemingly when cold) and if I try to start it up at any other time of the day it starts first time. Had the battery tested and nothing wrong there. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas?

Clean up your terminals especially the earth. Body to engine strap as well. All engines are harder to turn over when cold. You could try depressing the clutch pedal when cold as well.

Make sure that the connections on your starter motor are tight. That's one of the common reasons for poor starting.
