Been watching that story - amazing how GM agreed to buy Fiat when Fiat wanted to sell to them - and ended up paying so much to get out of the deal.

I know some people say they'd never buy a Fiat - but paying 2 billion NOT to buy a Fiat - now there's a reputation to be proud of!

Finally NO more stealing of parts. No more Alfa suspension to opel, no more opel claiming it is his product.
And yes I know it has some down sides, but maybe we will see some Italian designed cars in the future. Not some stilo (please dont get me wrong, its a nice car, but lacks the Italian charm - to cold IMO), but something like the Bravo. :)

"We now have absolute freedom to design our own future," said Fiat chief executive Sergio Marchionne.

As long as they go back to thier forte which IMO is style, they should be ok...

Its good business sense from GM to pay that rather than the £8bn they were originally going to pay. Its also a good deal for Fiat as it gives them much needed investment money, or at least pays off some debt!
I am off today to my local Vauxhall dealer to see if I can do a contract for Angel Tuning like this - buy us in 5 years for £800,000 or pay us £200,000 not to :)
I bet the man from Turin is pissing himself laughing!

You could buy my car for £3,000 or more even if you don't want to!

Good news, I think.

What about the announced 3.2 engine for the soon to be released Alfa Brera? It was claimed that it would be based on a GM block.
