Fiat 850 engine swapping

Hi there!
Just signed up to this forum and need some help!
I am looking at purchasing a fiat 850 coupe with the plan or replacing the engine in the near future after purchase.
I have searched the internet and heard people talk about engine swaps but have still found no information on it so I am hoping somebody could point me in the right direction.
I am looking at either putting in an rx7 engine or a porsche engine.
I think I would prefer a porsche as i am not the biggest fan of rotarys but the car i am looking at buying comes with some parts to squeeze a rotary in the mid vehicle with removal of rear seats.
If somebody could point me in the right direction of some relatively concise information on engine swaps for this vehicle so I have a true understanding of the labour involved it would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing to do when considering engine swaps in an 850 is to install a VW beetle transmission. Then almost any engine will bolt up thanks to adapter companies like kennedy engineering

Ok thanks so if I get a vw transmission into the car then I can work from there. In that case where would i find information on the swap for a vw transmission?
What engines fit nicely in these cars as well?

Sorry also if i was to put a porsche engine in would it work if I put the matching gearbox in the car with the engine rather then using a vw gearbox?
