General Fiat 500s at the Goodwood Revival

I went with my dad to the Goodwood Revival over the weekend. As ever, it was a fantastic event, with a huge range of period cars. I've posted below some of the bambinos I saw during the three days:

An Abarth 595 being auctioned by Bonhams (not sure what the final price was, but it had an estimate of around £30,000):


A standard LHD 500L was also auctioned (reaching £4,600):


In the assembly area (before the cars went onto the circuit) was this Shell area, complete with a Shell-liveried 500:

As we now know what you look like, I thought I'd post a photo of myself but I had to hunt a bit to find one as I'm not really into the whole selfie thing. Anyway, the one below is of my mates and I during one of our recent bushwalks (treks) into the Australian high country in mid-winter. The hut has a coal burning potbelly heater which is lit and blazing away raising the interior temperature to about +5 degC while it snows heavily outside. The second photo is the hut the next day.

We have been doing this for some years now and have covered large tracts of both Australia and New Zealand. The last four or five years we have ventured into the Tasmanian highlands either in the Cradle Mountain or Walls of Jerusalem National Parks in midwinter (July) usually for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. For us subtropical types, a real winter with snow etc. is a particular 'treat' though the year we had to walk through midthigh deep snow two days in a row was testing to say the least. We all still have our fingers, toes, noses and ears and remain to this day, firm friends. Our spouses and families actually encourage us to do this because they say it is good for our long term health. I know it seems crazy, but we see very beautiful scenery every day. I've attached a few more photos.

Now that I've hijacked this thread, I'll stop and give it back to Matt for his car photos.

I just had a look - fantastic collection of historic cars, including lots of my favourites. I like the Everest BC tribute - you didn't find Sandy Irvine by any chance, did you?

Thanks for the compliments about my photos - it's yet another hobby, though given the choice of being surrounded by my smelly mates or the company you seem to be keeping Matt, I'll take the girls over the guys any day

£4600 seems cheap for the little 'L' do you think?

Daniel,

I guess, when buying at auction, it's a bit of a gamble as you can't drive the car beforehand, so you're never 100% certain of how it runs. This is usually reflected in the price it fetches at auction. It also looks like it hasn't been registered in the UK yet, so this too may affect the final price.

That said, £5k for a 500l in LHD does seem to be the market price at the moment.
