Is there a known issue with reversing light switches.
The reversing light wont come on when reversing.
I've stripped out the switch and the plunger on the switch is doing the job and switching the light on and off as it should.
The plastic plunger protrudes about 1/4 and inch and can anyone advise if that is the correct length or has it worn. It doesn't look worn and local paerts have none in stock to compare.
The mechanism inside the gearbox appears to work but not as good as I would think it should as it seems to be stopping well before reaching the plunger.
Hoping its not a gearbox out job.
Can anyone assist as search reveals no information other than discussions about 1 or 2 rear reversing light.

Assuming its the same loom as the normal car, connect the two wires together at the plug, if the light works, replace the switch;

I note that Eurocarparts shows a switch that is possibly closer to yours, I don't know why they look different?

Thanks John.
I shorted out the connector and light came on.
I removed the switch and operated the plunger and the reversing light went on and off with the plunger.
I stuck my pinkie in the hole the switch came out of and got my son to operate the gear lever into and out of reverse .I could feel it moving but on measuring it was not close enough to operate the switch.
Can access be gained though the top cover and has anyone had problems here and had to do it.

I might just gamble and get a new switch but if it's the same size I cannot see it resolving it.

Couldn't get an eper around 2011 to see parts but thanks to Davren for the elearn link.

Try a new switch it's cheap to replace ?

Thanks again john . They are now saying that selecting first gear is a problem so although all the searches on here suggest a clutch and/or hydraulic problem I am thinking selector or cable adjuster problem.
I see on an American FF you can just get new bush inserts although not seen any on ebay here.
I will need to get the deerstalker hat pipe slippers and do some lemon entry deduction myself.

Got new switch £10.45 and still the same . Transpires twas a pin cost for parts £4.16. Twas the labour that escalated it. All sorted and gear change is better too.
