Sometimes its nice to discuss thing via PM's so no one can take over the thread.

I would ask that unless it's a personal problem, requests for help by pm should be directed to the section that the help would come from. As the entire point of this forum is to provide free advice to everyone.

Squirrelling help away inside inboxs helps only 1 person. A thread with a conclusion can help thousands. Plus helpful members then don't get bombarded with the same pms asking the same questions. ;)

I have had a PM from a guy this morning in relation to a deal on a car that is the market - wondering if he should buy it or not. I wouldn't call it a personal problem and I'm sure that when the time is 'right' he'll air it. I was happy to risk losing a car because I was primed to jump the following morning but in his case he's still undecided. But I take your point. On the threads is much more benefical.

This may have already been mentioned, I've scanned the thread and not seen this but may have missed it. A colleague at work has just had a recall on her fiat panda for what sounds like this discussed problem. Just thought i'd mention it....

Hello,

I reported this problem to Autoexpress last week. It's in their magazine this week and now VOSA are looking into it to see if a recall is necessary.

Hi All

Its been a while,

I had an experience on thursday in the rain that really shook me up, I lost control of the car under power on a roundabout and very nearly came a cropper - first thought was diesel on the road or something similar,
but later found out that my passenger had put his foot on the exposed brake linkage in the passenger footwell and applied the brakes full on!!!

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS POSSIBLE - WARN ANY BODY SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT TO KEEP FEET AWAY, IF POSSIBLE GUARD IT OFF AS I HAVE WITH AN ALUMINIUM PLATE.

I have contacted my dealer who have inspected my car to ensure its not a one off (its not they're all the same) and they have reported to fiat - expect a recall (i hope)

i will be glad to give any one who wants it details of where the link bar is and how i've guarded it off
its simple to do.

Be careful out there

Chris.

Ps love the car to bits - this is the only bad thing i have found. Shame its such a doosy.

Stupid idiots putting their feet where they shouldn't.... WIN!!!!!

Why would you be curling your foot up behind the dash and pressing it against the footwell for one, and secondly you'd have to be pretty dumb to not have the presence of mind to realise the car slows as you press your foot into the carpet!

Not sure if it was on this thread or another, but I said I'd happily punch anyone who did that in my car. People seem to treat a car like a loungechair sometimes and that's dumb.

same in my bravo, dog triggered it when sat in the footwell..luckily I hadnt set off, car just wouldnt move ......simple solution...dog now goes in the boot lol

Quite - I have lost count of how many people I've seen with their feet up on the dashboard in the passenger side of the car whilst being driven down the motorway. It's a good way of losing your legs in an accident :)

My brother used to do that and probably still does

Putting your feet up on the dash of either of our cars is a punchable offence :)

Amen to that. Both my brothers do it, and even if it's not my car I crack the ****s. They don't get why

As for the topic at hand, I am able to warm my feet on coolant pipes in a Volvo I drive. But to do it, I need to dislocate my hip and knee to make them twist the right way. Does this mean I should push for a recall?

Sorry maxi I pressed dislike by mistake. I am on my iPhone and was trying to press next page. I can't see how to get rid of it.

No probs RUI :) If I'd noticed the dislike I would have been slightly confused :D

You could always do a 'thanks'. You cann't have Maxi share the honours with a dislike and a thanks  that he made a previous post ! :)
