I’m seeking advice regarding an issue with my 2021 Fiat 500X 1.0 Firefly engine.

A couple of weeks ago, the car went into limp mode and displayed fault code P06DD – Engine oil pressure control circuit performance/stuck in Off position. I cleared the code, but it quickly returned. (Revs won’t go past 3000 rpm, although overall performance doesn’t seem badly affected.)
So far, I’ve:
  • Changed the oil and filter twice
  • Cleared the code again (but it keeps returning)
The fault code is now showing as Permanent, although the check engine light doesn’t appear until after about 8+ miles of driving—usually around 2000 rpm. The failure is intermittent.

I took the car to my local garage (the mechanic is very good with diagnostics), and we discussed the next steps. He:
  • Checked the oil pickup in the sump (it was clean)
  • Ran engine cleaner through again (the oil wasn’t great despite being changed only a few miles previously)
  • Tested oil pressures across the rev range to monitor performance
At this stage:
  • Since the fault is intermittent, I didn’t want to replace the oil pump right away
  • My plan is to change the Oil Pressure Sensor next before taking it back to the garage
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with the Firefly engine oil system? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Howie

Does anyone know where the Oil Pressure Sensor it is located on the firefly, with a picture? I can't see anything on the left-hand side from the front. It looks completely different to other Fiat engines.
