how far out is the exhaust size wise? why is it different sizes? is the front section you're trying to connect it to non standard?, it should fit otherwise. really need pics or a look before, might be a case of changing the front half too depending on were things change from standard to weird sizes

lewisp took the measurements, which I can't remember off hand. I know they were close, thats for sure.

I believe a good amount of (bad) cutting and welding has taken place so it may well be the front is non standard. Potentially the mid and rear section we've aquired might be the wrong section. This needs further investigation.

Is there a difference in Cento exhausts between sporting and non sporting? I'm sure the car we tipped at Persley was a 1.1 but black bumpers and steelies so non sporting. Just wondering if this might be part of the reason.

if it was a 1.1, it should be the same diameter, that said if it was an mpi, i think it's a slightly different design to the spi because of cat positioning etc (mpi has mani-cat, spi has under car cat), so it could be you have an MPI and the pipe you nave is designed to go onto a silencer section rather than a cat section and it may be a fraction different. (black bumper non sportings probably are MPI, before that all black bumpers were 899 spi)

As ever things were not straight forward with this car and we discovered the front of the exhaust was 1/8" narrower than the rear section.

Unfortunately we're probably not going to be able to get photos of the exhaust set-up this week as we need a cento expert around to make sure the car is raised properly without putting stands through rusty sills etc.

And this has only JUST started to worry us?? What about the other times when we lifted the car ourselves, or the time we drove it up pavement slabs?? haha I didnt think H&S was a concern.....

It was cento experts doing that though. I'm working on the assumption no-one is available this week and it ends up being Martyn and I trying to get photos of the underside of the car - Martyn might just be ok but me making those sort of decisions? It's the stuff of nightmares

Yeh, that would be unfortunate! No one has signed up for the fix it meet first weekend of September either.....

First post in a very long time :p

Regarding the exhaust, i think the join in the new pipe was bodged slightly to fit the car in persley. In my head it has a slightly outward rolled join. I think if that is straightened out then the new pipe should fit on. I am happy to give that a try in September if you can wait.

It has been great fun working on the car with the FS guys. Looking forward to Cracking on with this too.

It's been great fun so far - thanks again for all your help!

For those who can make it along this weekend there'll be some juice and snacks to help feed the troops.

It really has been the best laugh in a long time, and helped me laugh through rough times at work :) ...long may the laughs continue :)

Give us time :D We'll get you working on the car eventually even if it's a quick fix at a show ;p

Seriously though everyone is very welcome to turn up and help out but distance for some we know will be an issue. If you have the time and money to make the trip there will be accommodation available although it may just be kipping on my sofa

Just seen the sei project car I have a complete set of lowering springs from my cinq that has been scraped if you want them loads of other cinq parts if anything else is required.

If folk have parts they are willing to donate then great, but I work on the assumption that parts are generally for sale :)

We have had a few items donated already - the Cinq mirrors from Mrcento for example. It's all very much appreciated!

Remember guys an easy and very good modification is to drill out the rivet on the leaver arms of the back brakes and replace with a bolt to stop them seizing. ;)

Also where is the car being stored now as in where do we go to work on it?

May be down at my brothers in Pitcaple soon as in a few weeks so may pop over :D
