The FIAT Forum Camping Weekender
Well ladies and gentlemen, it's been a long, long time since we did something like this - but I'm only in the country for one month a year, so I want to make the most of it!
As you know, the Stanford Hall Auto Italia event is the weekend of the 3rd of June - however, it falls on a Sunday. This means there is a whole Friday and Saturday free (well, technically we need to put up a tent on Sat, but with a big group it won't take too long) ...
Therefore, I'm suggesting we all head down (or up) to the area on the Friday - bring along our camping gear and have a good old FF pow wow for the weekend.
Friday Night
Once we've all got settled and had a few warm up drinks around the camp site (apart from one unlucky who has to be the designated for the journey down) - we head into Northampton, where we park the car (or cars) in a secure parking lot - then hit the town properly!
At the end of the night, Stu has found us a company who will taxi us back to the camping ground for £30 (per taxi) - where we can retire to bed (or to the campfire if we're still not quite done) - sleep it off, then go back in the morning/afternoon to get the cars.
Saturday
If we play our cards right and don't wake up too late - we can go to Stanford Hall in the afternoon, get the marquee up (an hour or two) - then have the rest of the day free. This could involve going back into town - or just having a night "in" (with alcohol involved of course!)
Sunday
The day of the show - up early I'm afraid (around 7 or 8) then off to SH. Afterwards, back to the campsite to relax. At this point, I imagine a load of you will need to head back home - but the remaining few (or many) can then plan what to do on the Sunday night - be it chilled or finding some place in town that will serve us.
Monday
We go home ... or to A&E depending on our liver conditions.
To get around the issues of fridges and power, I've rented one of the chalets on site. So we have a base, somewhere to keep things cold, heat things up and sit if it starts to rain and we need somewhere to hide out.
Plus of course, cooking breakfast in the mornings!
Camping I believe is a couple of quid, so not going to break the bank.
This is taking it back, Old School FF style - I promise you it will be fun .... so get your names added!
