FF App for android

Hi.
I have recently changed from Blackberry to a Samsung Galaxy phone, and when ever I access our favourite forum from the Samsung it prompts me to download the forum APP.
Then it says that the APP needs to be able to control my USB storage, and also it says something about preventing the Samsung from sleeping.
Is that all normal?
What is controlling storage about?
What if I want it to sleep (at the same time as me for example!)
Can anybody tell me what this is for?

The USB storage bit is to save attachments I believe, the bit about not sleeping is so the screen doesn't turn off when you are reading a post (although I'm not sure this is implemented, just the permission is requested for future use)
