Picture worth a thousand words...typically I would agree, but in this case, I want to know what the little white box is in picture 2 and if there is a standard car amp/crossover in use or if there was a power conversion being performed with PC speakers. Can you provide info or the original link? Even in Serbian, the brand names should stay the same.

I think that white box is amplifier and remote controll for speakers )loudness, EQ, etc....and have connectors for USB storage devices and signal IN and OUT. I will check with owner of gadgets onto Serbian Panda forum, brand and web and other details....I know it is some older version of external comp speakers, with amplifier, remote and USB storage connector (white box under-Panda dash...) Speakers are part of complet, and perfectly fit above top of rear door area, as seen on Pic.
As soon as I provide details Ill let you know all details

I have done some googling tonight and see that in car audio forums, people who ask how to hook up PC speakers in a car are basically laughed at, and I am beginning to feel that the sound quality and volume will not be sufficient.

Will hopefully get a better idea of what I am going to do once I have looked at head units and speakers in a decent shop.

This 12V trust system must be using some kind of inverter to power off DC 12V?

That is the other object I must research...

Okay, Geg, I agree with you. Producers declare 15w power, but think its less than that, and quality sound need bigger membranes.......

12V gaget just to be hooked onto positive pole related to ignition key *red-green wire), so its powered only during contact key is on, and power button on remote is on.

I was just going to say! It's a a false economy going with computer speakers. You're better off sticking with car specific ones, even cheap car speakers will be better than PC stuff.
 
Definitely stick to car speakers, you need much higher volumes in the car to compensate for road noise, this makes a huge impact on the amounts of bass you hear.

If you say how much you want to spend in total i'll give you a good idea of what to get. Personally i had 5.25" speakers in the front of mine, i made MDF pods in the same place as the originals.
 
Damn, I wish I could start this thread anew as I am so over this PC speaker setup idea.

Yes I am looking into head unit with aux-in. Finding them from 50 to 100 Euros, have not decided on one till I choose my speakers.

Then, I have no idea what MDF is, but I have roughly 20cm left to right and 11 cm top to bottom on the left side (driver side (french car)). I want to make a box for either a 10cm round or 4x6(inches now just to spice things up) if I can find them. (there are some Polks on newegg). On the right side, there is much more space but I would just do 2 identical front speakers/enclosures.

This way, I dont have to deal with the wire across the door hinge (as I have also been thinking of building boxes to replace the compartments on the bottom of the doors).

Then, if necessary, as a future upgrade, I could wire RCA to the back with a bass-box or even try to mount a small one front/center underneath. Will buy a head unit that supports this even though I do not plan to do it immediately.

Back to price, it seems easy to get two good speakers for 50 euros. So unless the enclosure is gonna cost me more than 50, I should be able to do this for 200 euros. Price is not so much the issue, it is just I have been commuting about 2+ hours a day in this car and I need some music to retain my sanity. Can you put a price on sanity?

The enclosure is the biggest issue. I have found 10cm plastic ones in a store, but would rather build wood ones with that nice felt covering. Just need to try to locate a place to buy the materials and then go about 200km to my wifes uncle who has the tools I would need to cut the holes.

So, I hope that clears it up, and I must admit, BenW, I am sort anxious to see what your "good idea of what to get" is. I really want to make this happen this month.

Hi John,

This is only unrealized plans...... under this pillow there is empty place for air bag, but.......emptyness is endlesss. Other regulation (safety-regulations) interrupt this plans......for Panda Classic, and plans stay unrealized forever...... Only few last Seicento series, realized this plans........and have drivers side - air bag mounted onto same shape steering wheel......

looks really neat and doesn't take much space, did it really because I wanted to keep the space in the 'hammock' dash pockets but I had them wired into a standard car head unit and a set of proper speakers on the back shelf to add some beef...
to be honest though, theyre back out already and I've gone the same route as nearly everyone else and made ply pods covered in black vinyl with proper 10cm speakers in.
If you want a small, cheap setup that works, in my first panda I had a pair of decent 5" speakers in the normal positions in the rear (Under the windows just above where a rear seat passengers knee would be) and just a pair of tweeters mounted in the front on either end of the fabric dash. Just enough so it doesn't sound like it's all behind you and the acoustics if you mount the standard speakers there are surprisingly good, sound bigger than they are.(y)

That was the first set, i did actually make a second set which was much more solid, it filled the entire gap on the drivers side and the speaker was totally enclosed with a curved wooden back. This improved the sound quality slightly but i wouldn't bother if i was making them again.

I'm not sure what equipment you have in toulouse but for the headunit stick to alpine and pioneer and for speakers alpine, DLS, Hertz, CDT and some JBL stuff might be ok on a budget. Make sure the speakers are coax (mid and tweeter all mounted together) and you should fit 13cm in ok with custom mounts, its well worth going for the slightly larger speaker :)

I would suggest buying as much as you can on ebay, you'll get so much more for your money
