favicon.ico with clear background

At the moment the favicon.ico FF hosts has a white background, using a clear bg would allow it to blend into themed/skinned browsers.

I've already made myself a modified copy of it with a clear background, as a PNG (using it with Favicon Picker in Firefox), if anyone wants it as a source to convert to an ico and use on the site I'll upload it

The favicon is actually transparent, so I was confused - but I've just realised I've uploaded the wrong one.

Will sort that later

I know what you mean.

on the tabs for example there is an FF logo ad it has a white border. now firefox is kind of grey so you see the white border. If this border was transparent then it would have no border and look better

Though it's more of a problem if you've installed AnyColor and have set it to Dark - Favicon picker only changes the bookmark, not the tabs, though it's fair to say I tend to spend most of the time looking at the page and not the tab
