Hello, small problem, the weekend just gone i left my X-reg brava parked in the sun for a few hours at a local park, when i got back the steering wheel was slightly sticky/moist-but i thought nothing of it. However when i came to use my car 2 days later the horn kept going off on each bump i went over, and even just by resting my hand on the top of the wheel it would go off as though id pressed the actual button. I have removed the fuse to stop this annoyance but obviously i need to get this sorted. The horn button presses in on one side but not the other, any suggestions? thanks.

theres a plastic spacer and 4 springs underneath the button. One of these has snapped or jammed. so when you touch it slightly, its naking contact underneath. you probably find it beeps when turning too?

you need to take the horn top off of the wheel, and either fit a non-metal spacer in place of the spring (note that it wont depress to beep from that corner) or replace the spring if thats broken.
it should become clearer when the airbag/horn button is off.

remember to disconnect the battery and allow 10 mins before starting work. also, do NOT put the ignition key into the car until the wheel is properly re-assembled. and for safety, when i had this problem, i stood outside the car and put the key in and started it from there, obviously with the door shut, and the window open! The airbag deploys using a wee dod of semtex, and i didn't fancy the airbag smashing into me because i'd shorted it out!

RE:Re Buzz: Re Faulty Horn

Forgive my ignorance but how do i actually remove the horn assembly? thanks

if you stick your head at the wrong side of the steering wheel, or maybe just your fingers, you should feel the holes where the screws are. iirc theres 4 and it uses an allen key to turn them. I know for sure thats what the speedo/clocks and hood/cowl that surreounds it uses. It was a long time since i had the airbag and steering wheel off to fix the horn button
