what year is your Stilo?
The diesel engines were OBD2 compliant later than the petrol versions (end of 2003 ?)

that explains why the code reader doesn't work on your car - it isn't OBD2 compliant yet.....diesel versions are OBD2 compliant from 2003 onward.

You need to contact www.gendan.co.uk and buy their italiacheck setup. It is an ELM327 OBD scanner with custom software that they have written that can interrogate the engine faults on non OBD-II compliant FIATS. I bought one for my 2003 Multipla and it was the best £60 I have spent in awhile.

You HAVE to phone them as it is still in beta and is not advertised on their web site yet.

If you're refering to the 16 pin diagnostic connector. The socket it at the top of the dashboard fuse box behind the drop down panel in front of the driver's knee for a right hand drive car.
