as above.
I recieved the kit from rob to find that it doesnt work. :(
have spent all evening trying to get it to work to no avail.
I don't know what part of the kit is to blame but the central locking still works when I remove the old yellow relay and add the new remote central locking relay, but not the remote fobs.
I checked to see that the fuses that are used for all the locking systems were not blown which they were not.
Someone please help me, I am going insane :(

Don't know if this will work mate but...

When I fitted mine I did it with the doors locked and it didn't work, so I removed the relay, unlocked the doors and then re fitted the relay, it worked fine after that. It may have been the other way around I can't remember now but try this anyway it may work it may not.

Good luck

no joy mate, tried it with the doors unlocked and also with the doors locked :(

there must be some sort of fault in the relay as the central locking works when you have it in but not its remotely activated i.e. only works by key :(

anyone help?

Nevermind mate it was worth a try.

Just to clarify though, Your new relay does have a yellow wire hanging out of it doesn't it? This is the antenna which receives the signal from the fob. You probably already know this but I thought I would just make sure.

yeah I do. I did it with the glovebox out and the fob right next to the wire :(
is there the possibilty that the batterys in both the fobs are dead? the kit has never been fitted tho :(

I doubt it, I bought mine at the same time and it works fine plus these batteries last ages as they obviously don't use much power.

The only other suggestion I have is to put it back in the box and take it to your local fiat place and ask them to exchange it. Just say it was a present which you have only just got round to fitting and are not sure which fiat place it was bought from. There shouldn't be a problem as it is a genuine fiat part, you may have to wait a few days if they don't have one in stock.

It sounds f***ed so other than that you need to get in toch with robgt

Good luck

Martin L. ;)

Only guessing, but might be worth a try.

I think these things might be rolling code systems. This means that the code is changed every time you transmit. So in principle, if you transmit when you are out of range, the code increments in the transmitter but the reciever doesn't know this. So they are now out of sync with each other. This is obviously not good, so there is a certain amount of leeway built into the system, so they can go out of sync a bit and automatically recover. Its something like 128 or 256 codes in the sequence that can be synced to. Once they are resynced then everything is alright.

So what might happen when the power is removed from the car relay is that the code generator might reset to zero. The key fob may then be several hundred codes away from this code. So perhaps removing the battery from the key fob may reset that generator as well and things might line up then.

As I say, only a guess, and if it does work like this then its a stupid system if it forgets the code when the power is removed, but we are talking Fiat electrics here!

Of course, the first thing to do is change the battery in the fob, as a flat battery would explain the problem.

yes, but both flat batterys flat?
and its never been fitted to a car?!?
I know for a fact that the kit worked because when I met up with nige we tested all the kits he was going to sell on my car and all of them bar one worked. unless nige sold the dud one on then it should be working, these kits are not that old!!!
I removed the batterys and refitted them but still nothing :(

Underwhelmed

Hi guys.

Sorry for the delay in replying to this Dan - hopefully you got the email that I sent.

I don't know any reason why this doesn't work. I bought it from AlfaNige and it's never been out of the box. It's just sat in the cupboard until I decided that someone ought to have some use out of it. Not impressed that it doesn't function...

If we give it a week and no-one can come up with a way to make it work then I'll refund you the money less the Paypal fee if you post it back to me.

I can't understand why the system doesn't work when the relay clearly does. Can a Fiat dealer assist with trying to set it up? I can only think that the guys who suggested the rolling code system might be on to something and maybe there's some kind of 'reset' that needs to take place before it works.

Anyone?

Re: Underwhelmed

that shouldn't be the case though matey as me and nige tested all the kits that he had to sell on my car and as I said in the email, they all worked bar 1 kit. unless he sold the one that didnt work then it should :(
grrrr.
Fiat are having none of it, they have no clue what they are on about at Peterborough Stoneacre Fiat.
I'll go and try Rockingham Fiat in corby when I go and pick up my touch up stick from there tomorrow, the chaps at that service desks are most helpful :)

Re: Underwhelmed

OK. We'll wait and see what Rockingham Fiat can suggest and take it from there.
