Re: my past contribution to the cold feed conundrum

i got told one way of keeping the filter clean when its sat in the wheel arch like above (mines in the same place) is to put a pair or tights over the top keeps the crap out still flows easily. the oe air box was subjected to a trusty pursuader (hammer)

re

i cut my old airbox in half to get it out rather than bother taking wheel off lol

was very quick!

a tights over woudl only work until the tights got dirty anyway!

you coudl put tights over the vent type holes in the archliner?

Re: re

cheers for the contributin guys, i will try taking the bottom out and routing some air feeds. cheers for the link nico

Yours isn't an induction filter Stu - it's a K+N air filter that just replaces the old air filter in the box on the passenger side above the front wheels.

It'll make your car run better and sound better but not like the bits of kit these boys are talking about - which run in at about £80 - £100 as far as i know.
I hope you weren't expecting an induction kit from me! i never advertised it as an induction kit!
Anyway, it should arrive today, let me know when you get it and i hope you're pleased with it when you run it in.
Cheers.

Re: re

i dont have a cold air feed as such, just the black one shown below. In mine, the two arrowed pieces are connected, and theres a little pipe that looks like it might be the oil breather? My K&N is angled up a bit more compared to the one in the pic, and the nose of it sits 'just' inside the end of rubber hose.

Also, my K&N was getting absolutely filthy from crap coming through the slots in the arch-liner, so a tin of fibreglass (P38 or P40, i can never remember which is filler and which is fibre) from motorworld, costing about 4 quid i think) filled that in no prob. It was so easy to do i let my missus do it ! It still gets a little dirty because i have no engine undertray, but it should only need 1 clean a year now, instead of every 3 months! I didn't fit my K&N myself, PaulR did, but for you guys who still have the original airbox base, can i suggest you leave it there and just snip out the bits you need to get you air filter in? it should help protect it from wet crap getting on, plus offer a little bit of heat shielding.
