I'm seriously thinking I selling my 1.6 100 SX and buying a 100 JTD. What I would like to know is the maximum BHP and torque you can tune it to.

Also congrats on the advert in this months Auto Italia, right next to an article all about tuning diesels.

read the reviews dude... the site has loads of info on it - i was reading this morning that's how i know:

Fiat 1910 JTD Bravo / Stilo
If we take the original 105 bhp as a starting point, which wasn't the most enthralling car to drive, we can remap this to somewhere in the region of 150 plus bhp. This takes this into the Bravo HGT performance territory, for anyone who has ever driven one of these! The long term testing on this has thrown up a decrease of 2 mpg on the consumption but apparently the grin hasn't worn off anyone yet! This remap is of course available on all JTD Bravo/a and the newer Stilo, even if it is billed as a 100, 105, 110 or 115 bhp version.

If 150 plus bhp sounds a bit too much for you we can provide a detuned version of circa 130 bhp, although no-one has asked for it as the car can easily handle the additional power with only the slight decrease in economy being the pay off for having it.

I think the best line we receivced on this is from a Brava owner, Pete, when we asked him how it was going.... "still grinning from ear to ear"!

We may tell you his other quote if you ask us, but we can't put it here in case it offends anyone!

Re: Re: FAO AlfaNige - Ref: 100 JTD remap

The mad map used to take it to 160bhp, but I think they now do 175.

Re: Re: Re: FAO AlfaNige - Ref: 100 JTD remap

180. You are corrected :) I presume that's around the 250lbs/torque figure, and 180bhp :) of course.

Ian.

Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO AlfaNige - Ref: 100 JTD remap

Cheers for the replies peeps, but i would like a cast iron figure from nige himself.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO AlfaNige - Ref: 100 JTD remap

David: 180bhp is the cast iron figure. Just not sure about the torque. I'd guess around the 250/260lbs mark!

:)

Next question, what about insurnace? If I tell them should I just say that is has had a remap which is the same as chipping and say that I don't know what the BHP increase is, will they ask? any advice? cheers, dave.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO AlfaNige - Ref: 100 JTD remap

Officially ? You tell them.

Unofficially ? How will they ever know ? :)

A re-map is totally invisible.
It's up to you. Some, such as Ian, declared it and paid no extra. It's up to you :)

You say remaps are "invisable". Maybe so, but insurance companies not stupid when it comes to paying out on a claim. I'm sure they are wise to engine remapping and have a way of checking. Boodly insurance!! I know they are going to spoil the fun.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: FAO AlfaNige - Ref: 100 JTD remap

I know David, I work for one of the worlds largest Insurance based financial institutions ;)
They're invisible in as far as they're unlikely to hook up a laptop with dedicated software on just to find out if the chip was remapped.
As the disclaimer says on Nige's website...

"What about insurance?
This is where we cannot tell you what to do. Basically the change in the engine map is extremely hard to diagnose, even with the right equipment to compare it with. Secondly to say something has been modified you have to compare it to the original and with only one map on the car what can you compare it against to prove it has been modified. Now we are NOT advising you not to tell your insurance company by stating the above. Some insurance companies are indifferent to remapping as they don't know what it is, some are half in the know and add a premium just for the sake of it and some insurance companies know exactly what it is and will ask the correct questions - if you tell them."

Nuff said....;)

Thanks for the info, great appreciated

Firstly, thanks on the ad thing - only that was last months! We are also in this months that came out on the 18th March.
We can tune the Euro 3 JTD100 to stupid amounts, but I would suggest about 170bhp being the most sensible option before you start dropping off the economy and drivability.
In Euro 2 JTD 105 form we usually tune to 155bhp - we can get more but again the economy starts to suffer.
Euro 3 were generally late 2000 onwards before you ask - but we will only be the ones who will tell you for certain when we hook up the kit.
