FAO Alfanige - JTD clutch upgrade

clutch

If you look through the Demon Tweeks Catologue, proper race clutches such as Tilton handling high power and torque are not cheap £500+.

I now have the lead on a company in Banbury who supplied my Volumex clutch rated to 250bhp and 258lbs torque and I am hoping that they may be able to do a bespoke clutch for around £300 which is what my Volumex one cost.

Hats off to Daz and Nige and all the other contibutors who have something positive to add.

Tom whilst you could offer some positve comments you don't and instead choose to undermine my contributions. Neither do you even own a JTD! Have you emailed Sachs in German or AP or contacted numerous other distributors? You won't even be one of the takers of these clutches.

Obtaining an uprated clutch will be difficult requiring initiative and patience, but it is even more frustrating when people like you just make life difficult for the sake of it.

Re: clutch

Ferodo have sold their clutch business to Ferrari and no-longer make clutches in the UK. At least they still make nice brake pads!

The company in Banbury is most likely to be Helix, in which case they are the ones who make the £525 325lbs capable coupe clutch.

I had thought the Fiat Coupe clutch might be a possibility.
I am surprised that it can handle that much torque even thought it's basically an Integrale engine which I know doesn't produce as much as that in std tune.

Interesting what Nige says about the Cat and a larger turbo.
I thought the Bravo JTD already had quite a big turbo? Anyway not really keen on going to those lengths. Just to get the max out of the std engine by remapping and any other straightforward improvements eg carbon filter Nige.

Re: clutch

Andy, are you a habitual idiot?

My first reply to DavidT
"I'd ask AP/Borg&Beck/Delphi as well as Sachs about uprated clutches."

My second reply
"You'd have to take the flywheel off to have it skimmed. OR you get the pressureplate made thicker.

Either way you are looking at many hundreds for that sorta work."

My third reply
"Ring Ferodo!"

I phoned Ferodo this morning to discover they don't do clutches any more. Nice to see you didn't bother.

And all you've done is moan that you can't find an uprated clutch:

"I'd be reluctant to buy one that hadn't been tested or alternatively was guaranteed not to louse up. "

"I wouldn't bother - Fiat aren't on the list, tuff."

"Shan't hold my breath though."

"Anyhow when I emailed them they (AP) were insistent that they would NOT be making an uprated clutch for the Fiat range. I guess their decision means they're already making shed loads of money and can turn this obvious gap in the market away."

Tom you do this forum a disservice. It's a
pity you feel the need to post messages that are obviously critical and rude, generating hostility and upset.

I will get an uprated clutch for the car, but you won't be reading how I got on which will mean sadly that neither will anyone else on this forum.

Re: clutch

Whatever! Everyone else, including me, tries to help DavidT and you are the one going 'don't bother', 'don't hold your breath', 'they will never make one' etc..

Doesn't sound helpful to me.

And as for being rude.. you were the one who said I was talking **** ;)

Pot, meet kettle :)
