Fan not working?

id been driving around slowly through traffic today for about 10 mins, then i parked up with the engine on for about 5 more mins, and looked at my engine temp and it was 3/4 of the way up!
the fan wasnt kicking in, and the only way the temp would cool down was if i was moving!
ive checked to see if the fan wires are attacthed, and as far as i can see they are,
what could the problem be?

Did you try to hit the dash just over the temp gauge ?
The other thing that it could be is the relay. But for that engine size would be needed

no, where will the fuse be?
its a 1.4 by the way

Near the stering wheel - you will see 3 screws that hold it
