Technical Fan control lights

Just picked up my gp yesterday and whilst driving tonight i noticed that with the side lights on all other controls are lit up apart from the bottom part of the centre console with the heater controls and air con buttons.. i was wondering if it is meant to be lit up and if so if its just a fuse thats gone.. any help appreciated

okay thanks.. where can i get the bulbs from or is it best to take it to a garage as i have warranty?

How old is the car? usually any warrenty excludes wear and tare items like bulbs but worth a try

they are 286 bulbs 12v, 1.2W

There you got mate, 10 for £2.20 I've just this week replaced the heater controls bulbs myself..only 2 bulbs for that whole bottom section

You're gunna need stardrives to get the radio cage out then just reach behind the heater controls panel as it can be tricky to take out without snapping the clips! The wires going to these bulbs are the purple and yellow ones that are seperated from those going to the heater controls!

ah thanks a lot mate. just ordered them of ebay so shall give it a go when they arrive.. is it easy to get the cd player out?

Piece of cake, the proper tool is about a quid in most car parts shops or you can just bend a couple of bits of coat hanger or something if you're desperate lol.

The bolts that hold the cage in I found to be a bit awkward as you can't really get your hand in to grab it as it comes loose, ideally you want a magnetizer or do what I done and just hold a magnetic pick up tool ready to catch the bolt on when it came loose :devil:

I also used a mirror to see where the wires are I needed to pull out like this

Had a look this evening and the only bulb i manged to get out is the one that lights up when you turn the air con or rear window heating on.. struggling to find the 2 main lights as their both out.. any help??

Quickly uploaded this pic I took while I was changing my own bulbs...

The bulbs are roughly where the lines in the image point to, although they are set into small holders which are themselves set into the plastic back of the heater controls panel. The only way to get them out from the back is to pull the wires going to the bulb, purple and yellow

AH just realised i had replaced one of them lol.. just need to get the other side done when its light again.. although i struggled to find the one on the right but im sure il manage :woot:

The right one is a bit more of a fart on lol, the wires seem to be tighter into the slot and there is another stupid plastic thing on the panel in the way :bang:

well somehow thats the one i managed to do :L so the other one should be easy now that i wont be losing my temper with fiddly stuffs
