What year of manufacturer please and what engine? also why was the MAP sensor replaced and was it a good quality new sensor? I'd want to scan for codes using a tool which is proven to give meaningful results - for instance I favour the Multiecuscan tool.

Its 2014 it went on a proper fiat computer saying the map sensor fault so they changed it at Alexanders its 1.2

My first stop would now be to rescan it and see what comes up. Maybe something was disturbed when they were working on it and a rescan would likely show this.

Is what you are now experiencing similar to the original reason why you got them to look at it in the first place? If so then they obviously haven't "fixed" it and I'd be chucking it back at them to sort out.

So i took it to them cause it was rough at ideling and the revs went to 1500 when I put my foot and the pedal it wouldnt do anything

Its still coming up with a map sensor code got told that the manifold could have a leak as it only revs to 1500 when it reaches 90degrees

I was just reflecting on the above and thinking about that MAP sensor. Was the original reason why you took the car to the garage because it was doing what it's now doing, or is this something new? Can't really see a MAP sensor producing your symptoms.

Thinking further on it, we've run a Panda as second car/learner vehicle for children since way back when they had distributors with points and ignition coils. I think our present one is the fifth, maybe sixth. My oldest boy also had a Punto for several years with the FIRE engine. Never had to replace a MAP sensor in any of them however, what they do suffer is contamination of the end of the sensor with oil from the breather fumes. This is easily cured by removing it and cleaning with something like carb spray cleaner or brake cleaner spray. This is not a normal service job so is never done by a garage when the car is in for it's normal service. I just do this at every major service and it makes a noticeable difference to the running of the car.

I'm being chivied to do the hoovering now so I'll check back on here in an hour or so.

So the first time I took it they scanned it and it said knock sensor faulty so they replaced it and it worked good for a week then the light come on with a map sensor code so the replaced it was ok for a day then the light come back on and code scan says map sensor iv had a auto election to check the wiring and to make sure power is going to it and its all good

Well, it might be, the manifold is plastic and, although I've not had it, I've read on here of others who have. One way to check is to get a length of plastic/rubber tubing, stick one end in your ear, and then move the open end around the manifold where it joins to the head. Of course the engine has to be ticking over. If there's a leak of any consequence then you'll hear a hiss when the end is hovering over the leak. Be very careful of any rotating or hot parts won't you. A more professional way to do it is to use a smoke generator but not many home DIYers will have one of them and I find a "listening tube" works for me.

Edit. What's troubling me is this wouldn't give the problem you are describing - in that it wouldn't run ok for a while and then suddenly default to this. Doesn't really even sound like it's going into "limp home" mode.

Sorry, Mrs J has appeared with her rolling pin and is threatening to use it if I don't get on with the hoovering! My older boy and his family are coming over for the afternoon and we haven't house cleaned for maybe a month! This thread is interesting me so I'll check here again later

PS. Final thoughts. Was this the original fault? Can't see that testing to a faulty knock sensor? Then "computer says" replace MAP so they did. But did they actually stop to think about whether this was all making logical sense or are they just blindly doing what the Unreasoning computer is coming up with? In my experience the computer/scan took/whatever can only point you in the direction of the fault, its the intelligent use of the "little grey cells" combined with the computer/scanner result which gets the job done.
